Lazy Sunday lunch. Great pub and really terrific staff! We had the Sunday special roast -Thors Hammer. A sharing roast with all the trimmings. The beef melts in your mouth, the Yorkshire pud is huge, vegetables steaming hot and tasty. Would absolutely recommend this dish. There were 4 of us and we came home with plenty leftovers. Great value for money! The staff were really attentive and helpful. Will definitely return! The photos do not do the dish justice, you really have to visit and taste it for yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Went for a Sunday roast food was great. Service was excellent. Next time I go I plan to have the Thors hammer unfortunately for that you need to book it 72hrs in advance.

Been here a number of times. Lovely big garden partially covered and heaters available. Inside is spacious, bar area and separate restaurant. Always busy but a good atmosphere. The food has always been great

Sunday roast is absolutely disgusting. Potatoes were like they had been sat there for hours, had to ask for a steak knife to cut our meat, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt & had been sat out for hours. Cauliflower cheese had no cheese, worst worst food I’ve ever eaten and it cost £250! Avoid!! I’ve had better roast dinners at a Toby carvery

Extremely disappointing experience. I visited The Spitfire and was enjoying a pleasant moment with a colleague over food and drinks. After my friend left, I briefly went to the toilet—gone for less than 2 minutes. When I returned, I was shocked to find that my food and drink had been thrown away. I immediately spoke to the staff, and although they apologized, they made no effort to rectify the situation. No replacement, no refund, just a casual “sorry” as if it were nothing. I had just paid for the meal and had barely touched it. This was by far the worst pub experience I’ve had in England. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of responsibility and customer care is unacceptable. A simple gesture of goodwill could have made the difference, but instead I was left frustrated, out of pocket, and disappointed. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for decent service.

Lots of seating inside and out, I prefer the outdoor seating, especially on hot days. The food is really good, I tried the salt and vinegar chicken wings and they are better than expected, really really nice. The burgers are massive, I had to take mine apart to eat it lol

I booked The Spitfire as a special treat for family as I was celebrating my 60th birthday and my wedding anniversary. There were 20 of us in my party and not a single person commented on how much they had enjoyed the food. In fact the comments were all negative: the beef was tough, the vegetables undercooked, the batter on the fish was extremely hard, the roast potatoes left a lot to be desired, the gravy was bordering on the unpleasant and all the meals were lukewarm. During the meal the staff had made a mix up by giving one smaller chicken meal to the wrong guest and then in front of everybody, blamed the guest for accepting it - even though when it was given to the guest there was no mention of the size. We shall never be returning and shall not be recommending this pub to any of our friends. One word - AVOID.
