Amazing location for a sunday afternoon, maybe not so much winter's evening? We went as a group of four, on a cold dark evening. The building is lovely and one of the staff was genuinely cheerful in that “I’m pleased you’re here” way. The other was… also present. It was pretty quiet, which meant the atmosphere was more “library with chips” than lively pub night. Vegetarian choices were basically: curry or plant-based burger. I’ve never quite understood calling a burger “plant-based” – what else would it be made of, helium? Anyway, I had it, and to be fair, it was the nicest plant-based burger I’ve ever had (admittedly the competition is not fierce). The truffle parmesan fries, however, were amazing. Next time I might just order a bucket of those and call it dinner. Everyone else’s meals were fine. Nobody declared anything life-changing. Beer was also OK. So: halfway to brilliant. I’ll definitely come back and certainly will be eating the fries. It's one of those lovely places I could happily spend a sunny afternoon eating and getting slowly merry, in a lovely setting.

On holiday with the family in the Corfe/Swanage area. Very last minute decision to book for dinner early on Sunday evening. 6 adults, 4 children, 2 dogs. Absolutely no problem with accommodating us. Had the garden room to ourselves which was perfect for a family with very young children and a woofy dog. Staff were absolutely brilliant, lovely welcome, taken to table, settled....and NOTHING was too much trouble. Although it was a Sunday menu one of us fancied a dish from the weekday menu and was assured that was no problem. From the delicious Sunday roast beef and trimmings including massive Yorkshire pudding and wonderful selection of vegs, to the vegan curry, children's choice and everything in between, the food was delicious, presented beautifully, all arrived together, hot and tasty. Our waitress who we believe is also the co owner was friendly, accommodating, patient and delightful with our 3 year old granddaughter and went above and beyond to make sure we were all catered for and had the best possible experience. We are here for the week , may well be back later this week, but if not we come every year and will add this to our list of regular visits.... meanwhile won't hesitate to recommend to our friends. Wishing you all the best in your new venture and hope to see you soon. Thank you for a lovely evening. X

Stayed here recently in our camper. The only requirement was that I ate in the pub. The food was really good quality and reasonably priced. All of the staff that I had contact with were polite and couldn't do enough. The parking area is gravel and flat enough to just park and not need to worry about getting the van level. Although the main road is quite close to the parking area, the hedge deadens the noise from it enough that you can't hear it.

Stopped in for a Thursday afternoon lunch, all the staff were so lovely and very attentive! There were plenty of great options to choose from and some amazing specials. I opted for the Whitebait for starter and flat iron with garlic prawns add on for main. Both were great portions for the price, and the steak was cooked perfectly. We’ll definitely be back and can’t recommend it enough. Favourite meal out in a long time.
