The Halfway House Inn

Wow. Kingsand is a hidden gem of Cornish beauty and the Halfway House Inn is the heart of this quaint little village. I stayed here for the night in a single room which was just right and very good value. The hospitality was friendly and warm but I cannot say enough how excllent the food is. The chef allowed me to adjust the menu a little and for those with a sweet tooth, I think her sticky toffee pudding could be the best I've ever had. I would recommend a stay at this superb Inn and if Kingsand is not on your radar ... it should be!

Had a 1 night stopover for work. I have stayed above pubs before that weren't great. This was a different experience. From the moment I walked in, the service was excellent. Staff were really friendly and helpful. I ordered the pie of the day which unfortunately was out of stock, however another diner recommended the fish pie which was amazing and the portions were beyong generous. Really would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area. If not staying over..the pub and restaurant are worth the visit alone

Stayed one night.been here before. Live locally. Good location evening meal good. Breakfast good. Reasonable rates |Friendly staff. One issue .ROOM 3. very clean and tidy. Sadly directly above the room was the the central heating boiler. Was on when we got there at 5pm didn't seem too bad noise wise then we assumed it would go off at some stage. But stayed on and we had to put up with the noise all night when everything was quiet. The noise was far more pronounced. We got very little sleep management must be aware. ? Let our stay down somewhat..

Called in for lunch on the way past staff were friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of drinks and quite an extensive menu. We had a cheese and pickle sandwich on thick cut white farmhouse and a fish finger sandwich in a baguette both with side salad and crisps both really good and tasty. It was a Sunday and their roast dinners looked amazing. Thank you and keep up the good service.

We visit the Halfway House several times a week. Have tried all the pub/restaurants in the area and although they're good, the Halfway House is the best. Excellent food, served quickly, well presented. Friendly service, very attentive manager, nothing is too much trouble for him. Lovely outside eating area. Also friendly staff, highly recommend 👌

Popped in for a very late lunch and the kitchens were due to close at 3pm. But the wonderful landlord kept the kitchen open to take our order. 4 lovely meals, big portions. We were absolutely stuffed. The bar staff were so friendly (shoutout to the lovely young lady). There was no rush and we were so well looked after. Well worth checking this lovely local.

Spacious two bedroom and two bathroom apartment for two people with a balcony looking over the Plymouth Sound. Perfect waterfront and village centre location in pretty a village. Fully equipped from those rarely available egg cups to a sharp knife. Simply furnished. Budget towels and bed linen. Thin loo rolls. Excellent value £257 for two nights. Just £10 for nearby parking over 48 hours. Would we return? Yes.|Separate review for the pub.

We've been here many times now as they're always able accommodate us for food at short notice when the other pubs in the village are full. But each time there seems to be something disappointing with the food, and I have never left a review about it before. It's such a shame as the staff are very friendly, and we just forgive and forget until the next time. But too many times now, too many chances. Yesterday we went as a large group to have a Sunday roast, at short notice they fit us in which we appreciated! 5/11 of us were vegetarian and ordered the nut roast. But when it came out it was clear it was substituted with a burger, with all the usual roasts trimmings. Very bizarre. When questioned the server was unaware that the kitchen had run out of nut roasts, and the chef had just gone rogue plonking burgers on the plate instead. It wasn't even busy, and we had booked for 12pm. The server was very apologetic, and offered to reduce the bill at the end. When come to paying, it was £1 off the roast. Not even 10%. Sorry to be mean but we were very disappointed.
