Lovely little pub. Great location right near Portsdown Hill and Portsmouth, shops and takeaway directly over the road. Staff brilliant, tidy and well kept rooms. Brilliant price, on site parking. Will be back here if we need a room in the area again! We were concerned about noise but couldn’t hear the bar/noise at all from the room on xmas eve/boxing day etc.

We spent a wonderful one-night stay at the Red Lion Inn. There was plenty of convenient parking and a genuinely warm welcome on arrival. Amanda, who checked us in, was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to help with advice, which made our stay feel relaxed and well looked after from the very beginning. Our room was exactly what we needed for the night, very clean, comfortable, and well presented. The check-in and check-out process was straightforward and hassle-free, which made everything run smoothly. The manager was very approachable, and we enjoyed some friendly chat and good-natured banter, which added a personal and welcoming touch to our stay.

Regularly go to the Red Lion in Cosham with friends and family. Their breakfast is great value and genuinely lovely. The evening has a good mix of ages and a great atmosphere. The staff are always friendly and welcoming- just what you want from a local pub. Recently we had a group Christmas meal. The food was fresh and tasty and despite being busy the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive.

Room was fine, lovely bathroom. Staff were friendly and the location and facilities like free car park were fab. What massively let it down was the price of the food. We are lunch there and the menu is very deceptive in its pricing. Using phrases like "lunch deal from £9.50" but then not telling you how much anything actually cost. We booked a couple of days over the New year just for a quick break. What a treat , the staff were friendly and efficient from the moment we arrived, and the quality of the food was excellent. The fish and chips and chicken tikka were very tasty and the breakfast was outstanding. High quality service especially taking into account the busy season. Highly recommend.

The Red Lion is a Lovely, Friendly place, which is important to me, as I live on my own, and a friendly atmosphere is very important to me. The “staff” here are very friendly and helpful, and are more like Friends to me. I quite often pop in after I shop. It’s a Wonderful experience and a chance for a very welcome bit of company. It adds to a much needed part of my day.

We had a large party visiting the pub, we had not booked but we found an available table that had no sign on it indicating that it had been booked out. The table next to us had been reserved so 15 of us sat around a table that usually seated 6. The bar staff were great and were trying to find us free tables where we would have more room but we did not want to cause extra work so we stuck with our table albeit a bit cramped. The people on the table beside us left after their meal so we settled across the 2 tables. At approximately 18.30, a sign was placed on the tables and we were told that we would have to leave by 20.15. Obviously we questioned this and I was told by the bar manager that in the time that we had been at our tables since 17.00 she had taken an online booking for those particular tables and because we hadn't booked them we would have to leave. Now, if this is general policy, its going to make it very difficult to visit knowing that at any time during a visit you could be made to leave. This does not make any sense whatsoever. The manager stated that she had received an online booking during our visit and she had to honour it. Surely if the table is occupied it should be removed from availability on the booking system? Does this not make more sense? Its very sad but I and my extended family no longer feel we can frequent the red lion in cosham because if we do, we might be asked to leave our table at any time during our visit because of a lack of organisation on the behalf of the management. Ludicrous.

I had a dinner party with my friends a couple of days ago. The food was delicious. The team and the whole service were exceptionally good. Rhamat, the assistant manager, recommended us food and was very friendly and helpful. He came to us a few times to be sure we were happy with our meal and service. We definitely will come to dinner at the Red Lion again. Thank you!
