I hadn’t brought ID with me as I wasn’t planning on drinking. During the meal, we were informed that I would be required to leave at 9pm due to not having ID, even if I was still in the middle of eating. The suggestion that my meal could simply be “boxed up” felt inappropriate for a sit down restaurant. The waiter handled this poorly and was very dismissive. Had this policy been made clear before we ordered and paid, we would have chosen to dine elsewhere. It’s disappointing, as the food was good and the atmosphere was enjoyable. However, asking paying customers to leave mid-meal due to a policy that wasn’t communicated upfront is not acceptable. Clearer communication would have avoided this situation entirely

Terrible food, we placed our order and we were told 5-10mins later half of what we ordered was not available, we asked to change other items and were told no the kitchen had already started making the other items. I work in hospitality and this would never happen, regardless we should have been given the option to change our whole order to suit what we actually wanted. When the food came the beef and ale pie had three chunks of beef in it, so more of an ale and gravy pie we also had an extra portion of chips that was meant to accompany the items missing, we didn’t need them any longer but were also not allowed to cancel, wasting our money and food for no reason. Pint of Guinness was also very bad. Disappointing.

We visited recently for a quick pub lunch whilst in Poole and was served by the lovely Dannie. She was very welcoming and paid attention to all of us. She interacted with our children too which is always a nice touch when visiting somewhere! Would highly recommend people visiting The Antelope. Thank you so much Dannie

I'm up in Poole again to deliver some training.. So, I was looking somewhere to eat some food. After a good walk around the town I found myself stumbling upon this little pub. I was greeted by a really friendly member of staff and was advised to go and pick a seat out the back. I ordered myself the salt and pepper squid, a chicken and ham pie with mashed potato vegetables and onions rings and to finish off, I had Apple crumble with ice cream and custard. I'm not exaggerating here but the food was incredible, from the squid that was really fresh and cooked perfectly. Moving onto the pie it had a really nice thick crispy pastry with thick gravy and I'm not normally a fan of gravy but it was very nice. The mash potato was soft and you could tell it was fresh. The crumble was really nice although a smaller portion than I would normally have. It was just perfect as I am a bit greedy . There was a lovely atmosphere nice and cozy. If I come back to Poole, I would love to come back here again.

Food and service here was amazing tonight. The staff Toby and Lilly were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Toby recommended the chocolate fondue dessert and it did not disappoint. Melting chocolate from the centre of the cake it was heaven. The pesto and halloumi salad was great and husband was very happy with his lamb shank. Great atmosphere and beautiful restaurant that has blended modern decor with the beams and arches of the original building.
