Lunch at The Boot in Histon today and it was top notch! I've not been to The Boot in years, but after reading a couple of recommendations, we went for lunch today and it was amazing. Each course was so good, the food was so delicious. 😋 They also have 50% off mains in Jan. Our waiter was Desire (that's his name), nothing was too much trouble, his recommendations were brilliant and his conversation, delightful. The Boot had it all, plus what a lovely atmosphere, no wonder it was full. Worth every penny and we will be going back. The cheese souffle starter and the Pistacchio souffle were so delicious, light, fluffy and full of flavour, I'd eat them again happily.

One word. Fabulous. Everything about this establishment is wonderful. Even a happy hour 5-7pm Sunday to Friday....... We ate in the restaurant and the food was cooked to perfection. I live in Devon so ordered the Brixham Crab. And yes it was fresh crab prepared in its shell and had travelled all this way up the motorway to Cambridge. My warm pissatio Souffle was amazing and served with homemade chocolate ice-cream. Our waiter was attentive and extremely polite. So it's high praise for Ilyas. I highly recommend this place. I believed the Food was presented well tasted great and overall reasonably priced. I just thought I'd update my review because we returned for a 2nd time to eat at this establishment whilst visiting family in Cambridgeshire. We ordered house burgers and they were so yummy 😋 cooked exactly how I like them. A special mention to the lovely assistant manager who was so welcoming on both of our visits to the pub (5th & 6th September 2025) a credit to the establishment.

We visited this gastropub as a group of three friends, and we couldn’t have had a better experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was delicious, and everything arrived perfectly prepared. A special mention goes to Desire, our waiter, who made our lunch even more enjoyable. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. His great attitude and excellent service really stood out. Highly recommended — we’ll definitely be coming back!

Onion soup was great . Starter with beetroot with sorbet had no flavour . They do not Much and was extremely small . T bone pork was full of fat. Chicken and fish was nice . Service was just ok not very professional

We had an absolutely fantastic lunch at The Boot, Histon while dropping my daughter back at university. We were travelling with our five-month-old puppy, and the staff and other guests couldn’t have been more friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed and family-oriented — plenty of children, dogs, and cheerful conversation all around. We started with the Cornish crab, and the Wyke Farm cheddar cheese soufflé, both beautifully executed (photographs attached). Throughout the meal, the quality of the food remained consistently high — the cooking is clearly attentive, the ingredients seasonal, and the menu well considered. The Boot describes itself as a gastro-pub with seasonal menus, dog-friendly areas, and a curated wine list our experience absolutely lived up to that promise.

We were struggling to find somewhere for lunch that was still serving as our appointment ran over and it was getting on for 2pm on this particular Monday. We called ahead and reserved a table. When we arrived it wasn’t too crowded in the dining area and we were lead to our table. Our server Desire was attentive without bothering or rushing us. I had the fish and chips which were excellent and my companion had the pie that they enjoyed thoroughly. We are planning to return to try their Sunday roasts.
