Had a family function buffet there 11/10/2025 . Very poor quality of meat in the sandwiches. Skimpy amount of tuna not spread anywhere near the edge. £300 for tuna egg and cheese sandwiches with a few skewers and soggy biscuits topped with things I couldn't identify. This was the village of Great Barford where we all originated from. Reason for having it there was we lost one of our cousins. So we chose to remember him here. Some of us travelling from South Wales, Devon and further. Combined we spent over a £1000 with drinks etc. They booted us out the function room just so we could make way for one cover. Table of four. We would of happily paid extra just so the family could have stayed together instead of being spread out in the bar. Years ago it used to be a good family oriented pub. Now unless you like pale ale as they apparently have not heard of bitter, then I would avoid it. Great views and acces to the river is really the only positive thing I can say about it

The arranged buffet was just under £300 and was awful. I could have bought better from Costco or M&S for a fraction of the price. I'll concentrate on just the sandwiches. Basic ham, cheese, egg with some fresh tomatoes here and there. The filling was consumed in one bite. IE/ there didn't appear to be any butter and if there was it wasn't spread to the crust of the bread and neither was the filling. There were some round things. No idea what they were, they looked so unappetising I didn't try one. Judging by the amount left over no one else in the party wanted to eat them either. The chicken skewers were drowned in an awful sauce. Again loads left over. The sausage rolls & garlic bread did go and kids ate the chips. This venue was chosen because of our family connections going back many years to the village. It was a celebration and thankfully we didn't let the awful food spoil it.

Was driving off the beaten track and stumbled across this beauty. Excellent selection of drinks, very clean and tidy interior, the seating outside is excellent and has a lovely view of the river below. Free parking was a bonus, felt very welcomed indeed. Only disappointment was we couldn't use cash (card only). I would like them to reconsider this as this can put people off visiting.

Stopped off for dinner on the 17/02/224 The chicken starter was delicious. The peppered beef stew was lovely . However I think their spicy stew is my favourite. For desert I tried the strawberry mouse & Prosecco .

Nice pub close to the river Ouse. Enjoy a walk and then a pint and good food. They have special offers.

The pub itself is nice, but the food was disappointing. My cappuccino tasted like watered-down milk with no coffee flavor at all. The burger was okay but my partne's pie turned out to be just a dish with a pastry lid — lacking both meat and taste.
