Absolutely 5 star 🌟 the food was perfect. We came here looking for a change and I think it's now become my favourite place to dine. I had the crispy squid and it was, crispy and succulent inside. None of that mass produced rubber calamari crap. For main I had a special. Game pie, partridge, pheasant and rabbit pie, it was sublime. Rich and full of meat, haven't had rabbit in years, I was not disappointed. Why wife had the Stilton beef burger, she was also happy with it. Plenty of cheese, big beef patty and salad. The staff were amazing, attentive but not too much. The building is historic with its crazy layout but they have made it so warm and welcoming with great decor and rawing fires 🔥. We will be back.

Fantastic pub with a large car park hidden behind the pub through an archway on the front. Beer was great. I had Charnwood Vixen which was excellent and I am sure the Landlord would have been a great pint too judging by how well the beer was kept. Food was good, we had the signature stilton burger which was delicious. Also nice tables to sit outside or in the conservatory or inside the pub itself. Great service too!

Beautiful place, food was delicious ,however service was a bit slow. We had to go up to the waitresses stand to get the bill and pay rather than it being brought to us as it was never brought to us after we ask for the bill. Understandable though since it was Sunday lunch so it was fairly busy. Prices were really good considering the quality of the food, would recommend

To be honest we have not been here in over a decade despite living 10 minutes away. This place holds memories and we returned last night in memory of 3 losses we've had. The service was brilliant, on point. But the food. Flipping heck. Off the chart. I had the haddock smokie followed by peach bread pudding. Goodness gracious it's the best meal I've had around these parts in a hugely long time. Honestly such good food. 15/10. P.S. the wisteria 🤯

I enjoyed a delightful lunch here on a sunny Saturday, making the most of the beautiful weather by sitting outside in the sunshine. The atmosphere was relaxing and made the meal even more enjoyable. Since I’m still relatively new to the UK, I’ve been exploring different dishes, and I have to say, this was the best Sunday roast I’ve had so far. The flavours were spot on, with everything cooked to perfection. I also tried the leek and potato soup for the first time, and it was incredibly rich and satisfying. I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did, but I’m now a fan. The service was excellent, with attentive staff who made sure everything was just right. Their friendliness and professionalism really stood out, adding to the overall experience. I can’t recommend this place enough and am already looking forward to my next visit.

Absolutely incredible lunch today. A really superb place to eat, faultless in every way it's a long time since I have been able to say that about any UK restaurants. I have gone to a lot of places in the UK of which there is always something wrong. However, this place has it all. Food first rate, service fast and polite, super ambience. All parts of each dish are perfectly executed. It may look simple but the love and care in the kitchen is clear in the taste of the food. I am so impressed I will be returning again. Thanks so much.

Traditional British pub with a respectable number of ale options. Sunday roast was delicious with a decent three slices of meat but on average 2.5 potatoes/person. Friendly and accommodating

I came here for the first time for Sunday lunch, and it definitely won't be my last time! The building looks lovely from the outside, and has a feeling of a cosy traditional pub on the inside. We all ordered roast dinners and everyone loved their food and the servers were super friendly and accommodating. In my opinion, it's one of the best roast dinners in the area. The meat was cooked to perfection, the potatoes were excellent, vegetables were tasty and Yorkshire was NOT burnt!!! (like most other restaurants 🤣) Disappointingly, there was no cauliflower cheese left, but the staff were nice enough to offer broccoli cheese as an alternative! It's definitely worth a visit if you have not already been.
