The Hanbury

The Hanbury townhouse was amazing! Super comfy bed, very clean room, beautiful bathroom and considering we were in London it was very quiet! It was a very hot week when we visited but the Dyson fan in our room was so useful and kept us very cool, which is a huge added bonus as we find lots of hotels are uncomfortably hot. On arrival the staff were friendly and attentive despite being busy. We stayed for one evening as we were attending a concert nearby at Union Chapel and it was perfect for our stay. We had a drink and snack in the pub itself which was lovely, the food looked great. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Best place I’ve ever stayed in London.

Room was immaculate and the bed was very comfy. We enjoyed having a few drinks at the pub on the outside tables. Stayed to attend Wireless Festival and the location was perfect. The Dyson fan and the additional fan was a pleasant sight during the heatwave. Sadly, the room was sweltering in the conditions which made it difficult to sleep. No fault of the pub, London was baking that week. Would definitely stay again but not in that heat! Thank you.

We stayed Sunday 31st August 2025 On arrival the staff were friendly and attentive despite being busy. There was a football match on the big screen and the pub was packed but despite this we were quickly shown to our room. The room.was lovely, well presented and clean. My wife and I had an early start (4am)and we had walked around a lot during the day so we were absolutely shattered. The shower 🚿 was good and I wanted to go.to sleep about 7pm. The windows were open but we had to close them due to the pub patrons being very noisy and loud music 🎶 My wife fell asleep quickly but the music was very loud for many hours so I couldn't get to sleep .I eventually resorted to ear plugs ! The room.was supplied with a fan which was useful to keep.cool. My wife rated the accommodation as 5 starts and I would have rated as 3 due to the loud music so poor night sleep so 4 stars is probably fair. If booking in future I would check ahead to see if there are any special events on if you are a light sleeper

I’ve been a frequent visitor to The Hanbury, typically spending over £100 per visit, because I genuinely love its fantastic bar, delicious food, great drinks, excellent service, and the warmth of most of the staff. It’s a gem for watching sports, which is why my partner and I chose it on 3 May 2025 at 16:30 to enjoy the Arsenal vs. Bournemouth match. However, this visit was a huge letdown. We were told by the manager that no food was available due to a private wedding event, with a dismissive comment that we had “picked a bad time.” The manager’s behavior was inconsistent—super friendly one moment, rude and dismissive the next—and he seemed out of his depth, getting super flustered under pressure. There was no prior notice about the kitchen closure, which ruined our plans to eat while watching the game. It’s disappointing that a pub prioritizing loyal customers doesn’t accommodate frequent visitors, especially on busy match days, with at least a limited menu. The lack of communication about event-related closures isn’t advertised on their website either. I hope The Hanbury improves its planning and staff training to ensure all customers feel valued. Despite this, I’ll return for the great atmosphere and staff, but management needs to step up.

Just checking out of room 7 of the Hanbury this morning and we're sad to go. Top notch room with absolutely lovely beds and nice coffee/tea station in the room. Spotlessly clean. Our third floor room was set up with two fans and had a lovely cross breeze from nice windows. Some Saturday night noise from the pub below but it doesn't go on too late and we have slept very well both nights. So pleased with our stay!

Stayed here when it first opened. It was so lovely! They were sweet and friendly. The room was CLEAN and spacious. Love the bathroom. Comfy bed. Pub downstairs! They had a great Sunday lunch. Love the little area it is in. Could leave our baggage before our train when we checked out. Loved the vibe. Felt super comfy. Would totally stay here again.

Stumbled across this genuine English pub off the main street in Islington. Stayed for a 5 star Sunday roast. Staff v friendly and great selection of beers on tap. Low music great atmosphere. Highly Recommended.

We had a good stay, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and location was easy and close to the tube. The only thing which I feel should have been shared prior to our booking is the Townhouse is located next to/above a pub, and we happened to be in the room directly above the pub. Music is playing until midnight, the rugby was also on which I appreciate might be why the pub was extremely busy, however if you want to sleep before mid-night you might struggle. Otherwise its a good.
