A lovely pub in a great location. Staff very agreeable and accommodating. I had a few issues that were totally resolved swiftly and amicably to my absolute satisfaction. The pub has a great atmosphere and it is busy and welcoming. The room was clean, bed comfortable, not a great view (of the recycling bins) and the bathroom could do with upgrading, but the price reflected that. I would stay here again.

Great little inn for some local food and beer. Terrific fish and chips, Sunday roasts, curry dishes. Plenty of choices at the tap. Nice change for and fun meal. Yes, the service can be a little slow -- sometimes you think they forgot you. But they are so nice that you overlook it.

Have been a loyal customer of this pub for years along side family and friends , never would I, or others, expect to have to put in my license plate into a screen to spend money in a local business. Buying a drink with my daughger after a long dog walk has now cost me £60 plus the drinks as no one, not one staff member, mentioned that I have to put my reg in. Safe to say i will not be returning and have heard many others will be doing the same. I will now be supporting other local pubs.

Been in The Star hundreds of times over 35 years. I've lived in the area all my life. Went there for a quick lunch with a friend recently. He received a £100 fine for using the car park. They have very recently changed the rules so you now have to give them your registration number at the bar. While there may be signs up in the car park nothing prominently shows a change. One would expect to be told, at the bar, while paying. This feels like profiteering from a change and I will never go back. They may get £100 from a few of their customers, once, but they won't be back. Very short sighted.

Great food and atmosphere, in a homely, but bustling environment. We always visit whenever we are in the area. The food is well prepared and presented, at very reasonable prices. We ate in a nearby establishment the previous night before eating here, and a comparable meal cost twice the price. Staff are friendly and attentive.

The Star Inn is a charming pub in the picturesque village of Lingfield. The pub itself is very inviting, and the village is lovely to walk around. We we're visiting the area for a family wedding. We stayed in one of the external rooms, which covered all the basic necessities for our stay. It was, however, smaller than the photo online suggested. This, I presume, was because they used room 3 for the photos, which is considerably larger than rooms 1 and 2 which our party were in. The breakfast is a set price of £13.95. The full English was very tasty and well worth the money. However, my son, only wanted a sausage sandwich, which while very nice, certainly wasn't worth almost £14. The worst part of our stay was being woken up at 7 a.m. on the Friday, the morning after the wedding, by an absolutely horrendous noise. It was the deafening crash of hundreds of glass bottles smashing against each other as they were poured into a refuse truck about 10 meters from our door. The noise was so loud it caused ringing in our ears, and it was a truly jarring way to start the morning. But this was not a single occurrence. There were at least three containers emptied in to the refuse truck. This was then followed by several other vehicles of various sizes pulling up over the next 40 minutes with various deliveries. This was an unfortunate end to an otherwise pleasant stay and left us with an overall negative view of the Star Inn

Was a lovely pub. Came for dinner and spent a fair amount. But they wanted even more out of my car in their car park. After sending proof of receipt to the fine company (what kind of countryside pub charges for parking, who do you think you are?) they rejected our receipt and still fined us. I have never in my life been to a restaurant, pub or cafe where upon entry my number plate must be put into a screen. Once again, how important do you think you are? Disgusting to treat and gouge local people this way, and to not accept our receipt proving us being there and ‘validly’ parking in your pub car park.

The Star Inn, Lingfield — a delightful, centuries-old coaching inn with roots in the village’s past and the kind of worn-timber charm you don’t find everywhere. In a sentence: history and character are everywhere — low beams, creaky floorboards and an inviting, cosy atmosphere that instantly feels authentic. Lonely Traveler Productions popped in for a meal and came away thrilled. The food was excellent — seasonal, well-cooked dishes presented with care, generous portions and a comforting, homey flavour that matched the pub’s character. Service was warm and attentive, and the room (complete with period features and a welcoming glow) made the whole evening feel special. It was an absolute pleasure to find a place like this — a stunning old pub that made our visit exciting and memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for good food in a truly atmospheric setting.
