Horse & Farrier

Good pub food and well kept real ales. Looked like the wet offering was Marston's, but guest ale saved the day. Lunch service was swift and efficient, portions large and the food hearty and filling. Dog and walker friendly. No rating for the rooms as we didn't stay.

What a gem! Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly, welcoming staff who provided top service throughout our whole visit to the pub. We enjoyed delicious meals with generous portion sizes and great value for money. Would definitely return if we’re in the area again. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Delicious home cooked food.|We visited the restaurant area for a family celebration, but also have a large area to sit if you have your dog with you. |Great service and price.|We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in the area.

Came here for dinner on a family holiday. Really hospitable, cosy atmosphere, great menu options and good was perfect. We were served by a really nice man. My daughter didn’t finish her food and he kindly packed it in a takeaway box for her; unfortunately I thought my mum had it and she thought I had it when we were leaving, in case you wondered why it was mistakenly left! Silly us. Thank you kindly again for doing that though and we’d definitely recommend coming here to other visitors of this area

Superb pub. Great food,service and local beers. Highly recommend if you are in the area. Our waiter, James was a real gem. Would have given 5 stars but the Piri Piri chicken burger could have easily been improved.

I stopped off on my way back to site for a birthday treat to myself. I ordered the fish and chips and the food was amazing. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend a visit

Excellent Sunday lunch, plenty of veg. Nice beers. Great service from head waiter / front of house. Apart from a small step at main front door, floor through bar and into loos is flat, so was 💯 accessible for those with limited mobility.

August 2025 We have just come back from a visit to the Horse and Farrier. We have been coming to this establishment for Many Many years and have always been made welcome and had great food and drinks. We own a holiday let and The Horse and Farrier is one of the places we highly recommend to our guests. UNFORTUNATELY this afternoon we entered the bar area to have drinks. The pub was very quiet at 4.30pm but Many of the tables had reserved signs on. We picked a table which was not set for meals and did not have a reserved signs on. Once sat down one of the male members of staff came over and told us in quite an aggressive tone that we could not sit there. When we asked why he said it was reserved. We pointed out that it was the only table in the bar area which did not have a reserved signs on and was not set for eating. He was not having any of our observations and told us we could have a table in the side room. He then went back behind the bar and was complaint loudly to other staff that he was "sick of customers coming in and just finding a table" We were very upset and disappointed to be treated so shoddily that we left without having any refreshments. We were there the previous day for Sunday lunch and can't speak highly enough of the service and food we received 24hours previoisly. Such a shame that one encounter with a member of staff can change ones whole opinion and memories of a place.
