Really love the location and ambience of this pub as it is next to the great Hockley woods. The interior makes you feel at home and there is also a vast garden seating area which is perfect for the summer. However the food and service sadly left a bad taste in our mouths today unfortunately. We found a couple of the staff members to be a bit rude and seemed to have an attitude. If we are honest it felt like they didn’t want to be there and this rubbed off on us too. The food was very hit and miss sadly. The Yorkshire pudding and sausage were nice on the roast dinner, but the turkey was slimy and did not taste good at all. The rest of the roast elements were forgettable. Asked for boiled potatoes because I didn’t want the duck fat roast potatoes... Why would duck fat roast potatoes be the default? Would not recommend the roast dinner! We had to send the peach crumble back as it tasted burnt, but the staff kindly replaced this with the chocolate brownie which was much nicer. The panna cotta was pleasant too. Overall we won’t be rushing back to The Bull unfortunately, which is such a shame because we are locals and the location itself is perfect. We feel like they really need to focus on raising the standards of both the food and service to make this place worth a visit again.

Been coming to the bull for a while now and it never disappoints. Today we didn’t have a table booked and it was quite busy. We were waiting at the bar and Adam the manager managed to secure us a table for some Drinks and food. Service great and so was the food.

Adam made us very welcome fir our 13 year olds birthday celebration we were served by the wonderful Lottie. With the fish and chips being excellent and the grilled chicken burger awesome. we also had starters of korean chicken, garlic bread the cottage pie balls and what can only be described as the best hallumi fries known to man. portion sizes were very large and we had a chocolate brownie for desert just the one as we were all full. Full credit goes to Adam and Lottie for this amazing experiance, highly recommend going there it was very busy but we were served quickly and efficiently.

Well where do I start. We moved to this area only 4 weeks ago and so glad that we did. We came to look at the area just before we moved and had a lovely meal in the pub whilst sitting outside with our dogs. Today we had our first visitors and said that we would take them to the Bull for some food. Unbeknown to us we did not realise that you needed to book in advance as the pub is very popular. on arriving there with our friends from Dagenham we were told that there was no availability and the next table would be at 7pm!!! Adam was absolutely incredible and managed to change a few things around and had a table available for us within 5 minutes. What an absolute gentlemen and legend for being able to accommodate us and take away the embarrassment. We were shown to our table and was then handed over to Ally who was fantastic, friendly and very attentive. Our Sunday roast dinner was incredible and a side order or cauliflower made it even more delicious. The desserts were lovely as well. Overall we had the loveliest lunch, drinks pand afternoon at the bull incredible food at such a reasonable price. Thank you once again for your hospitality 10/10 Adam your a ledge. Been 10 years since at this fabulous pub. Rhiannon looked after the family brilliantly. The Aussie half of the family got a real taste for what used to be home. Food was sensational, choice of beers and service outstanding.

We have been going to this place for a very long time but was a bit disappointed this time. Our starters came out at different times. My wife had nearly finished hers when I had to ask for mine. The starters were ok but cold. My wife’s prawns were barely cooked, my chilli chicken was lovely but only warm. My wife chose the Pork Belly which was fine but no crackling, just a strip of fat. I chose the steak and Ale pie which will be the last time. It was awful. Gristle and gravy. The service was fine apart from the starter wait which was not the waitress’s fault We wasn’t impressed overall. It’s a shame as it’s always been one of our favourite restaurants. I don’t think we will be back for a while

Had a very plain and flavourless meal here. My partner had the steak and I had a mixed grill. Couldn't really tell the meats apart by flavour. The server was lovely but they sat us in a part of the restaurant that had no one in it which felt a bit like a penalty for dining with a toddler.

WOW what a wonderful end to a our half term, we came for a family roast and was unbelievably nice. We had the specials to start pork belly bites and tikka chicken thighs, we could have eaten them over again soo good. Our waitress Ally was incredibly accommodating and service from her was above and beyond. Thank you xxx
