This pub has a landlord and landlady who do everything possible to encourage participation in every village event, and some they've started themselves, It has a lovely atmosphere, they don't cook, but invite 'popup' food sellers every weekend, everything from exotic foreign to traditional fish and chips

Lovely deep steak pie literally crammed with chunks of beef. Tasty gravy home made gravy. Plenty of fresh veg - cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, broccoli. Loads of roasties/chips again home made. Very nice to have fresh veg served on what was a weekday lunchtime outside of season/ school hols. All good in a nice old pub.

5 Star Pub with a great landlord. Note: Since June 2024 the pub no longer serves food itself, however has been hosting a variety of local food trucks on Friday/Saturday/Sunday and for Special Events. Would advise checking their Facebook page as its always updated. (accurate as of April 2025)

We loved the bar and the service but found that the food was expensive and disappointing. I paid £16.95 for bratwurst and chips plus £2.95 for a tiny jug of awful runny curry sauce. My wife's game terrine was bland and not 5 star gastro pub presented. Gluten free bread was served which is great but it wasn't toasted. The server refunded this item thank you.
