We came to this pub on a Wednesday 'pie night' and the food was absolutely superb. A special mention needs to go out to the desserts, which were second to none, and one of our 14 year olds said the pavlova was the best dessert she's had in her life! This family-friendly 'oldie-worldie' looking pub has very friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

Food was wonderful and the owners couldn't be nicer. Homemade food so good that it left us coming back 3 times in a week! Highlights were the lamb shank and handcrafted pies. Lovely, quiet location with some parking and a peaceful garden to the rear. We are a family of 5 with 3 generations and there was something for everyone. Would recommend this place to absolutely everyone 🙂.

A very friendly cosy pub with great tasting food. We went on a Wednesday evening, which was 'pie night' and wasn't disappointed. Fantastic pie's and the best chips we've tasted for a long time. All in all, a great value meal, looking forward to returning and trying more pie's.. Highly recommend...

Went for Sunday lunch with family. Booked in advance for midday, no mention on booking that they required the table back at 14.00. On arrival , I assume it was the licencee landlord kept making a point that they required the table back at 14.00, annoying to say the least. Food quality, I would describe as very average, akin to a school dinner. Thinly sliced pork reheating in gravy, veg, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding OK. Desert again average poor presentation. Best part of meal espresso. Would I return, NO. Very average experience.

Little disappointed we arrived on a mini bus as a mature group, before we even got chance to get off the mini bus we were told we weren’t welcome as we were in a mini bus, now bearing in mind we had called ahead and checked open and advised we weren’t on way this was a disgusting attitude, in the current climate I am shocked a pub can turn down a minimum of £60 without even a consideration.

What a gem. Super friendly landlord and customers. Lovely traditional pub with a great atmosphere. The ambiance and food was 11/10. We ordered a mega burger and my husband said it was amazing. Generous sized portions and fabulous crispy onions rings and hot chips. I had the lamb shank with mash with a redcurrant and mint gravy and it was unbelievable. The gravy was the best I think I have ever had. There was loads of meat and I couldn’t finish it! It was so tender it fell off the bone. Everything was spotless and obviously well looked after and the kitchen looked immaculate (probably one of the cleanest tidiest kitchens we have ever seen in a pub). I’d go back in a heartbeat because I feel cheated I couldn’t force down a pudding haha. The pie section of the menu was really interesting and all home made - no stingy portions either this looked like pie heaven so I’ll try that next. Easy to find, good parking and smashing selection of ciders etc. 100% worth a visit and we will be back probably this week because we enjoyed it so much it’s well worth the drive for such a smashing pub. I must add the menus was very impressive overall especially the vegan selection was looked so much better than the usual lentil bakes I see around. My best friends vegan so we might take her with us next time and treat her to a decent meal ! Thanks for a lovely evening see you again soon x
