Overall the experience was excellent. The room was beautiful and warm, (we were in a superior). The en suite was lovely and the shower was brilliant. Breakfast was very nice indeed - I’ve never seen egg yolks so yellow (they were orange!) and the tomatoes were the sweetest I’ve ever tasted. Only slight (very slight!) down points were the sister pub was cold (ok, it was a winters night but the pub was crying out for a bit of warmth); the other funny(ish!) one was the pub sign hanging virtually outside our room continually swung in the wind - what a noise it made - desperately needed some wd40 or, better still, clamping down. It kept me awake for hours but I am a light sleeper. All in all, a great place to stay with all the shops and restaurants on your doorstep. Staff were excellent too. We’ll be back.

Excellent location, pleasant cafe and bar downstairs, good breakfasts and some nice rooms. Staff friendly but inexperienced and signs of poor maintenance: towel rail not working, cracked sink, and toilet seats loose. Rain showers but no shower caps!! Steep and winding staircases to rooms on three floors. If you like informality then it suits well, if you like boutique hotels then this isn’t one. It’s a ‘pub with rooms’ at a premium price.

The room was beautiful and the staff even left a birthday surprise for my partner which was very sweet! The breakfast included was delicious and the location meant all amenities were in easy reach, including the lovely pub next door. The only complaint I have was the noise at night due to the takeaway on the same street, so I would definitely suggest ear plugs or perhaps some double glazing for the windows is needed. Overall, it was a wonderful stay.

Fab stay - rooms beautifully decorated and clean. Locations right in the middle of town and easy to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful too. Breakfast was great value and loved the little details like the pillow spray in the room. Would definitely stay again.

Great location and the atmosphere was lovely with live music on the evening. It was slightly loud as we sat down but the large, drunken crowds left quite quickly! The service was good and paying by QR code was efficient. Slightly higher priced than a standard pub but to the centre of Bath we couldn’t complain and the food was gorgeous!

The location of Broad Street Townhouse is very central, which is great. However, there are double yellow lines right in front of the hotel, so you can’t stop there. We used the Podium car park instead, which is very big and luckily very close to the property. Our room was on the third floor and there is no lift. At first the room looked nice, but there were a few things that were not pleasant. The TV didn’t work. I phoned reception to let them know, and they told me someone would come the next morning to check it, but unfortunately we were leaving in the morning so it was too late for us. In the bathroom there are still two separate taps, one for hot water and one for cold water, which feels very old-fashioned. The shower also looks old, and it was very hard to adjust the temperature because the handle is very stiff. My husband managed to change it, but by that time I had already taken a very hot shower. Another important thing I didn’t like was the breakfast experience. The girl who served us on the morning of 9 December 2025, I’m sorry to say, is not very good at working with the public. Also, the breakfast was not hot: my food was only warm, and the spinach and my husband’s ham were cold. I often read responses from the hotel saying that negative comments help them improve, but in my opinion there has not been a lot of improvement, because I saw many reviews mentioning the same issues. If the staff at Broad Street Townhouse are happy with this level of service, then I’m happy for them. I also learned from other comments that visiting in the summer can be like having a sauna, just a much more expensive one!

Amazing stay. Great location from the Christmas market. We had the festive stay where we got mince pies and mulled wine on arrival, aswell as a 3 course meal and breakfast. The hotel was spotless. Lovely cosy room, with an amazing bathroom. Literally a two minute walk from the Christmas markets and hustle and bustle of town. The only negative I would say, is, it is situated next to a kebab shop and it was very loud through the night. But I think our room was directly above the shop at the front.

Lovely old building and rooms done nicely. Staff helpful. Unfortunately there were 5 of us so we had to go and have breakfast next door and there was no one else there. It wasn't clear what you could have as a paid in your room rate breakfast. Everything was ordered from a menu - no buffet even for juice and pastries. Many narrow and steep stairs which was fine for our group. Coffee in rooms is illy and a cafetière, not pods as said on the website. We like the ‘Butcombe’ offering and would stay at other ones in the chain. However, there is some unclearness with the mix between being a resident and member’s of the public popping in to have food or a drink. It seems better set up for drop ins than paying guests.
